Poetic Fool

Hi, my name is Rick.  Thanks for visiting my HubPages profile.  I like to write in general, poetry in particular.  I don't profess to be a poet, at least not much of one.  If fact, these are my first feeble attempts.  I do enjoy it as a carthartic exercise.  It helps me crystalize the disparate thoughts running through my head and make some sense of them all.

Like most people, I have experienced great joy and great sorrow in my lifetime.  What I write usually comes out of these experiences.  As such, some of my writing is based completely on these experiences, some are fictional and some are a mix of the two.

I like to tell stories in my poems.  It is just what seems to work best for me.  I occasionally write other types but keep coming back to storytelling.  I also have 4 chapters of a novella completed but, quite honestly, haven't even touched it in what seems like forever!

I welcome your comments and feedback on my poems, especially if you can relate to them.  I do have thick skin so, please, don't worry about offending me.  I have been very impressed with the quality of writers I've found on HubPages and have made many new friends here.  I'm thoroughly enjoying reading what others have written and have already learned so much doing so.
